The Children’s Commissioner has responded to a report published by Estyn on the implementation of the additional learning needs system:
“Implementing the new additional learning needs system is a significant task, and I recognise the hard work schools and local authorities are undertaking to get it right.
“Estyn’s report echoes what we’re hearing through our Investigation and Advice service in terms of inconsistent interpretations of the new system, which leads to uncertainty and frustration for families.
“Stable and guaranteed funding in this area is crucial to make sure that the new system is implemented effectively and consistently, giving children in Wales equal access to their rights.”
