Comment on Neil Foden CPR

Responding to a BBC Wales request on the Neil Foden CPR, Rocio Cifuentes MBE said:

Understandably, there is significant public interest in this review, and the safeguarding board and the appointed panel have a critical role in communicating its work effectively to the wider public, including children and young people. Not doing so risks creating an information vacuum which can cause confusion and uncertainty about the process and risks undermining confidence in this important work. I wrote to the chair of the North Wales safeguarding board last month emphasising the need for the terms of reference of the review to be made public without delay to provide public clarity on its focus areas and timelines. Regrettably, the terms of reference have not been published and I’ve received no indication that they will be published during the course of the review. For members of the public, including current or former school pupils, who may have a strong personal interest in the review or may have important experiences to share, clear and accessible information is vital, including on how they can share those experiences safely and confidentially and how the review will respond to those experiences. I have also relayed these concerns to officials and cabinet members of Gwynedd council. This is a critical review but for it to be as effective as possible, the public must have confidence in it.”
