Responding to the independent investigation into child sexual abuse on Caldey Island, Rocio Cifuentes MBE said:
“I welcome today’s report and its recommendations, and acknowledge the courage of survivors who have shared their experiences as part of the review. With any review, what’s critical is that we see positive change resulting from it. It’s important now that those recommendations are fully implemented and that the lessons identified by the review lead to effective changes. I welcome the local authority’s intention to establish a response group with a role in the ongoing scrutiny of safeguarding arrangements on the island, and I have written to them so that my office can offer any relevant independent advice and expertise.”
