Commenting on the Urdd’s decision to house Ukrainian refugees, Prof Sally Holland said:
“In its 100th year, we see the Urdd doing what they do best – supporting children and young people to access their rights in an empowering and safe environment. It sees them building on the tremendous work that they did in welcoming and supporting refugees from Afghanistan by providing another safe sanctuary for children and their families fleeing a war. I’ve seen the quality of their work with refugees first hand. I’m sure that children and young people from across Wales who’ve spoken over recent weeks about their desire to help their peers in Ukraine will be so very proud of what their youth movement, the Urdd, is now doing to extend a hand of support and warm Welsh welcome to families from Ukraine.”
