Responding to Senedd Ieuenctid Cymru’s latest report ‘Sustainable Ways’, Rocio Cifuentes MBE, Children’s Commissioner for Wales, said:
“I’m in full agreement with 74% of respondents to this impressive consultation by Senedd Ieuenctid Cymru that public transport should be free for those under 25. It’s a call I’ve made to Welsh Government in several annual reports, a call my young people’s panel has raised via a Senedd petition, and one that I will continue to push for despite being acutely aware of the financial pressures this country faces. For me, and for these young people who’ve spoken so powerfully in this report, it shouldn’t be seen as another bill to foot, but about investing in our net zero future, investing in children and young people’s access to education, training and jobs and improving the economic and environmental prospects for everyone.
“There are a series of other practical recommendations within this report to which I hope Welsh Government will respond comprehensively and positively.”
