Commissioner’s response to the decision to suspend the development of a made-for-Wales GCSE in British Sign Language

“This is clearly a very disappointing decision for Deaf young people in Wales. I will be writing urgently to Qualifications Wales and the Welsh Government to express my concern, to ask what assessment has been done of Deaf children’s rights and needs in making the decision, and to press for a clear way forward so there is accountability and support for Deaf children and their families. “
