Children’s Commissioner statement on Neil Foden

Commenting on calls for further inquiries related to Neil Foden, the Children’s Commissioner for Wales said:

“Since significant developments came to light this week, I have been considering my options, given the limitations of the timeline that the Child Practice Review initially set out to cover. As Children’s Commissioner for Wales, I have powers to examine individual cases or review the actions of certain public bodies, but only when this is not being looked at by another agency or review process. So in order for me to establish whether there is a legal basis for me to undertake my own work on this, I am seeking urgent discussions with the Review Panel to seek clarification of whether the Review’s terms of reference, including the timeline, are going to change in light of this week’s development, and whether they’ll be examining a wider set of circumstances or concerns. I’m also seeking clarification from North Wales Police on whether any further criminal proceedings are being contemplated in light of recent developments.”
